What If…? S02 E05 - What if… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?
BRIeF…
At this point I was able to get some more acting and some action shots that were fun to animate. I was getting more confident in my animating skill as well as keep pace of the speed of the show where I would usually ask for some more shots to work on.
What worked?
Shot wise, I was very proud with one of the shots I animated that was just a rope. The rig itself was mostly a IK setup with fine controls that are there if needed but the overall timing and spacing of the rope animation turned out pretty good then I expected.
What didn’t worked?
The only downside with the rope shot was I did not animate it to the set so I had to go back in and make sure the rope contracted the ground through. Was not an overall problem but still was something I had to keep in mind for future shots that required contract onto the ground. Another note, there was a shot I worked on that had a continuity error, that shot being when carter is talking to steve, she drops the shield but in that shot, the shield is back on her arm. I remember removing the shield but I was told to put it back for some reason. I was hoping that they would either zoom in on the shot or just remove it on their end but they ended up just leaving it.
What to improve?
To help with continuity I would sometimes look through the sequence of that episode and get context on what’s happening if I forgot during kickoffs. But in cases if a shot is already approved and is going through QC, I would usually look at the overall episode and see if there was any issues with continuity or animation errors. Sometimes those errors get fixed but other time due to the pacing of the show, the errors stay as its very minor fix to go back to.
