What If…? S02 E08 - What if… The Avengers Assembled in 1602?

BRIeF…

Ahh this episode… this is one of those love hate relationship due to the amount of crowd, hair and cape sim I had to do. This is also the episode I was not even credited on which I’m still kinda pissed about.

What worked?

This had alot of fighting, specially sword fighting that I had to start recording reference. Now at the time, I was not really that comfortable recording myself but I had to do it just so I can keep up with pacing of the show and also this helped with shot that had body mechanics. The more I did, the slower I got use to using reference for this episode.

What didn’t worked?

I had a shot where carter and thor are fighting on the stair of the chapel. This shot needed to be reanimated from scratch as client could not make up what they wanted them to do at the time and, they finally provided up with a movie drawover for that shot. I followed the movie drawover frame by frame and yet for some reason, client wanted to take this shot and ended up just making them slide around as if the graph editor is linear. In the end its client’s decision but this still was something I could not stop laughing about.

What to improve?

Body mechanics and fight sequences are one of my weakest point when it comes to animation. This is something I would like to improve on so its matches the same skill level I have in my acting animation.
